Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22, 1985 in New York City New York) is well-known for her acting abilities across genres ranging from historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was the daughter of an architect and producer was brought up within New York City. Hunter was the twin of the younger sibling. As a child she was able to begin acting. Actually, at the age of 7, she had already auditioned for commercials in a variety of different ways. Her interest in acting grew rapidly and she soon after in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. She made her debut as an actress on film in North (1994) at the age of nine. She was just eight when she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson starred next on screen in Just Cause (1995), after which she made her debut in the film Manny & Lo - a tale about two sisters who are orphans that get away. The Horse Whisperer (1998), in which Johansson plays an teen girl who has disfigurement, was hailed by critics. In the following years, she gained fame as the cynical teenager Rebecca on the film Ghost World. Like other young actors in the same position the actress honed her talents on the stage. When she performed her stage debut with Wildflower she was also working with various theatre projects in the USA. She attended the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
